Overview
A mission-driven healthcare organization in Austin, Texas is seeking an experienced Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. This role combines direct patient care with administrative leadership, supporting a multidisciplinary team and advancing equitable healthcare for diverse and underserved populations.

Position Highlights

  • Report to the Chief Medical Officer
  • Lead and mentor physicians and advanced practice providers
  • Collaborate closely with operational leadership and executive clinical team
  • Drive quality improvement and patient outcomes initiatives
  • Participate in community engagement and health equity efforts

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Provide comprehensive primary care services including diagnosis, treatment, and care coordination
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and manage acute and chronic conditions
  • Ensure timely documentation, lab review, and patient follow-up
  • Respond to clinical emergencies and support care team as needed

Leadership & Oversight

  • Supervise and mentor advanced practice providers and clinical staff
  • Conduct chart reviews, performance evaluations, and ongoing provider development
  • Partner with leadership on recruitment, retention, and team engagement
  • Ensure compliance with clinical standards, protocols, and regulatory requirements

Quality & Operations

  • Lead and participate in quality improvement and performance initiatives
  • Support implementation of clinical policies and best practices
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve care delivery and patient outcomes
  • Monitor clinical performance metrics and patient satisfaction

Qualifications

Education & Licensure

  • MD or DO from an accredited institution
  • Board certified in Primary Care or related specialty
  • Active Texas medical license and DEA registration

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience required
  • Experience working with advanced practice providers
  • Background in HIV care, gender-affirming care, or LGBTQ+ health strongly preferred
  • Experience serving diverse and underserved populations

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong clinical judgment and leadership abilities
  • Experience with quality improvement and clinical program development
  • Proficiency with EMR systems and telehealth
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
  • Commitment to health equity and culturally competent care
