Per Diem Medical Director of Wound Care | Hybrid/Telehealth Opportunity

Providence Alaska Medical Center is seeking a Per Diem/Part-Time Medical Director for Wound Care to provide clinical leadership for an established wound care program while continuing to practice alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team. This unique opportunity combines direct patient care with medical leadership responsibilities, allowing you to influence quality, clinical excellence, provider development, and operational effectiveness in a highly respected wound center.

The role offers a high level of schedule flexible with some hybrid/telehealth options available. The position is ideal for a physician who enjoys mentoring colleagues, advancing clinical quality, and driving patient-centered outcomes while maintaining an active clinical practice.

Position Overview:

• Leadership role within a well-established wound care program
• Approximately 10 hours per week of Medical Director/Clinical responsibilities - open to Full-time FTE if interested.
• Flexible scheduling options with telehealth and hybrid options

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership:

• Coordinate, supervise, and evaluate the delivery of high-quality medical services within the Wound Care Department
• Serve as the clinical liaison for the Wound Center
• Ensure providers have access to and are utilizing appropriate products, tools, and resources to deliver exceptional patient care
• Review clinical practices and support adherence to evidence-based treatment protocols
• Provide consultation on clinical policies, workflows, protocols, forms, reports, and records

Provider Oversight & Development:

• Ensure timely completion of patient care activities, documentation, charting, and clinical follow-up
• Support provider competency through continuing medical education (CME), training, and clinical skill development
• Coordinate, supervise, and evaluate the education of physicians and non-physician clinical staff
• Mentor providers and promote a culture of clinical excellence and continuous learning

Quality & Operational Excellence:

• Participate in the development and implementation of quality assurance and utilization review initiatives
• Monitor provider productivity, billing performance, and wRVU generation
• Facilitate communication between medical staff and Providence leadership
• Assist in operating the department efficiently while ensuring compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards
• Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities for performance improvement and operational effectiveness

Organizational Partnership:

• Work closely with Providence Medical Group Alaska administration and physician leadership
• Support departmental planning and strategic initiatives
• Promote compliance with medical staff bylaws, professional standards, regulatory requirements, and Providence mission-driven values
• Attend medical conferences and educational sessions as appropriate
• Perform additional leadership responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements:

• MD or DO with board certification in a relevant specialty
• Unrestricted medical license or ability to obtain licensure in Alaska
• Demonstrated clinical excellence and strong interpersonal skills
• Prior leadership, medical director, or physician management experience preferred
• Interest in provider mentoring, quality improvement, and performance optimization
• Experience in wound care, vascular care, surgery, family medicine, internal medicine, physical medicine & rehabilitation, podiatry, or other related specialties is welcomed
