Locums Hospital Medicine | ASAP Start | Ongoing Coverage

WPA Medicine Staffing is seeking a qualified Hospitalist Physician for an opportunity in Mississippi with an ASAP start. This position offers the opportunity to provide inpatient care in a 217-bed hospital with an open ICU co-managed by Intensivists and Pulmonology.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable supervising advanced practice providers, responding to codes and rapid response teams, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team in a teaching hospital environment.

Assignment Highlights

• Start Date: ASAP

• Practice Setting: Inpatient Hospital Medicine

• Hospital Size: 217 beds

• ICU Model: Open ICU, co-managed with Intensivists and Pulmonology

• Night Coverage: 2 physicians and 1 APP

• Clinical Support: Internal Medicine Graduate Medical Education (GME) program on-site

• EMR: Epic with MModal

• Procedures: None required
  

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient care to hospitalized patients.

• Evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, and coordinate ongoing care.

• Supervise and collaborate with midlevel providers (NPs/PAs).

• Respond to hospital codes and rapid response team (RRT) calls.

• Collaborate with Intensivists and Pulmonology for the management of critically ill patients in the open ICU.

• Work within a multidisciplinary hospital team and teaching environment.

• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation using Epic and MModal.

Requirements

• MD or DO

• BC/BE in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine preferred

• Active, unrestricted Mississippi medical license required

• Active DEA registration.

• Current ACLS, ATLS, PALS, and BLS certifications required.

• Ability to supervise NPs/PAs and respond to codes and rapid response calls.

• Comfort practicing in an open ICU environment.

• No procedures required.
