Locums Hospitalist Physician

We are seeking a Board-Certified Hospitalist Physician for a locum tenens opportunity in Petoskey, MI. This hospital-based position focuses on providing daytime care to adult inpatient medical patients, managing acute and chronic conditions, and coordinating treatment with the healthcare team. The ideal candidate has strong Internal Medicine skills and experience caring for adult inpatients outside the ICU/CCU.

Schedule & Practice Details

• Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Initial Schedule: One shift every four weeks
• Schedule Change: Transitioning to every other week beginning in December
• Weekend Coverage: Required
• Coverage Period: December 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027
• Practice Setting: Hospital-based
• On-Call Requirements: None specified
• Patient Population: Adult inpatient
• ICU/CCU Coverage: Not required
• EHR: Cerner

Responsibilities

• Provide daytime medical care for hospitalized adult patients.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust care as needed.
• Coordinate treatment and discharge planning with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation in Cerner.
• Support continuity of care throughout the hospital stay.

Qualifications & Requirements

• MD or DO degree
• Board Certification required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Active DEA registration
