Northern Arizona Healthcare has two hospitalist openings, Cottonwood and Flagstaff, both $205/hour, both drive-in only (no flight-in candidates). Cross-credentialing between the two sites is easy, and the system encourages providers interested in working both. Take either site individually or both if you want more shift volume.

Job Responsibilities

COTTONWOOD (87 beds, starts 10/18/2026): Night shifts, 7pm-7am, cross-covering 40-50 patients. Day shifts are covered by an intensivist, so no daytime hospitalist coverage needed. If a code involves your own patient, best practice is to attend, though IM residents and a rapid response team respond to all codes. No procedures required.

FLAGSTAFF (270 beds, starts 10/26/2026): Closed ICU, admissions accepted by the on-duty intensivist. Three shift types: Admit (6a-6p, hospital admissions only), Swing (4p-4a, also does admissions), and Nights (6p-6a, two physicians on, admissions plus cross-covering all non-ICU inpatients). 20-30 patients/day as a collective service, all ages.

Qualifications

Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice (Cottonwood also accepts Hospital Medicine board certification). Active AZ license required for both, IMLC accepted for Flagstaff. DEA required for Flagstaff. BLS required for Cottonwood, ACLS required for Flagstaff. 2 years of experience required for both. Cerner charting experience required. Covid and flu vaccination required (exemptions considered case by case). Credentialing runs 30 days for Cottonwood, 2-3 weeks for Flagstaff. Remote Cerner training (~4 hours) required before starting, paid at your hourly rate or $215/hr, whichever is lower.

Working Hours

Cottonwood: 8-hour night shifts, 7pm-7am, scheduled plus on-call. Flagstaff: 8-hour shifts across Admit (6a-6p), Swing (4p-4a), and Nights (6p-6a), scheduled plus on-call.
