Hospitalist Locum Tenens Opportunity – Missouri - Outpatient Clinic Setting

Opportunity Details

• Specialty: Hospitalist

• Practice Setting: Outpatient clinic

• Contract Length: 3 months, ongoing

• Coverage Needed: Full-time or consistent part-time

• Shift: Day shift

• Hours: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM

• Block Scheduling: No

• Coverage Type: Scheduled shifts + on-call required

Schedule & Call

• Day-shift rounding with a rotating call schedule

• Generally 2 call days every 7 days

• Non-call days: Onsite until 5:00 PM. Physicians will cross-cover their own patients until 7:00 PM, which can be done remotely.

• Call days: Must remain onsite until 7:00 PM.

• There are two types of call:

  • Triage call: Phone calls from the transfer center from 4:00–7:00 PM

  • Admitting support call: Assisting the admitting APP and signing off on admissions. The physician is not receiving admissions throughout the day but may occasionally take an admission between 4:00–5:30 PM.

Clinical Details

• Patients per day: Approximately 17

• Patient population: Ages 16+ through geriatrics

• Patient acuity: Must be comfortable caring for medically complex patients

• OB: No OB

• Pediatrics: No pediatrics

• ICU: Closed ICU

• Transfers: Rarely transfer patients out

• Special procedures: None required

• Codes: Physicians do not have to run their own codes

• EMR: Epic

• Hospital size: 220 beds

• Travel: Provided

• Lodging: Provided

• Strong preference for local candidates who can drive in on short notice when needed

Requirements

• Board Certification: Required

• Missouri License: Active MO license required; IMLC will be considered

• DEA: Required

• Certifications: BLS and ACLS

• Experience: Prefer at least 1 year of experience

• New graduates may be considered but must be comfortable working independently and able to hit the ground running

• Credentialing timeframe: Approximately 60–90 days
