Job description
We are seeking Hospitalist Physicians (MD/DO) for a dedicated hospital medicine team in Fresno, California.
The hospital is seeking experienced Internal Medicine physicians who are comfortable providing inpatient care, managing cross-cover responsibilities, leading codes and rapid responses, and caring for patients requiring ventilator management.
Physicians will work as part of a dedicated Fresno team. When scheduled at the Fresno location, physicians will not float between hospitals during the same assignment.
The current hospitalist team has approximately 4 hospitalists, with coverage generally structured around approximately one week per month at Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital and one week at another Clovis-area hospital. New physicians may also have a 50/50 Fresno/community-center arrangement, depending on the final schedule.
Job Responsibilities
Manage daily hospitalist census of approximately 28 patients.
Provide day or night coverage based on assignment.
Manage approximately 7 night admissions.
Provide overnight cross-cover for approximately 28 patients.
Lead codes and rapid responses.
Manage medicine-related cross-cover calls.
Provide ventilator management for patients requiring:
Ventilation for less than 24 hours.
Stable/chronic ventilator management.
Collaborate with surgeons and other members of the care team.
Provide Hospitalist consultation for patients in the open ICU.
Maintain appropriate documentation and patient care records.
Work within a dedicated Fresno team when assigned to the Fresno location.
No procedures are required. Anesthesia handles intubations and procedures, while the surgeon is primary in the open ICU with Hospitalist consultation.
Qualifications
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine.
Board Eligible physicians must fall within the hospital's 5-year board-certification window.
Active ACLS certification.
Recent inpatient/hospital medicine experience.
Demonstrated ability to lead codes and rapid responses.
Comfortable managing cross-cover medicine calls.
Recent ventilator management experience.
Able to provide ventilator management logs covering the previous 24 months.
Ability to work effectively as part of a dedicated hospitalist team.
Epic experience preferred.
Must be willing to work day and/or night hospitalist coverage as scheduled.
Working Hours
Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Coverage Need:
2 Hospitalist Physicians – Days
1 Hospitalist Physician – Nights
No APP coverage needed
7-on/7-off or comparable block scheduling is preferred.
