WCS Healthcare Partners is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team in a leadership capacity within a community hospital setting. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence and shape a hospitalist program while maintaining a strong clinical presence. The successful candidate will balance clinical duties with leadership responsibilities, contributing to quality improvement and program development.

Responsibilities

  • Primarily clinical role with approximately 15% administrative/leadership time
  • Day shift schedule, anticipated around 8am–4pm with 1–2 weekends per month
  • Practice in a closed ICU environment
  • Lead and support a growing team of hospitalists and 3–4 Nurse Practitioners
  • Opportunity to play a key role in building a community hospitalist program from the ground up
  • No current academic rotations, though future academic involvement is possible

Leadership & Administrative Responsibilities (~15%)

  • Oversight of quality metrics (length of stay, readmissions, etc.)
  • Participate in schedule creation and physician coverage planning
  • Support management and mentorship of hospitalist team and APPs
  • Collaborate with community-based voluntary physicians
  • Help coordinate post-discharge care with outpatient practices
  • Dual reporting structure to:
    • Department of Medicine
    • Senior leadership at the community hospital (including hospital executive leadership)

Clinical Responsibilities (~85%)

  • Provide high-quality inpatient care in a closed ICU setting
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Manage a broad range of medical conditions typical of a community hospital setting
  • Procedural expectations TBD / dependent on candidate comfort and team structure

Requirements

  • Board Certified / Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
  • Prior hospitalist experience preferred (strong junior candidates encouraged)
  • Interest in leadership, program development, and quality improvement
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a growing, evolving community hospital environment
