Job Description:

A leading healthcare facility in Washington, DC is seeking experienced Hospital Medicine providers for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity. We are currently recruiting Hospitalist Physicians (MDs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) to provide inpatient hospital medicine coverage in a collaborative and well-supported environment.

Providers will be responsible for delivering high-quality inpatient care to hospitalized adult patients while working alongside an established multidisciplinary team.

Job Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive inpatient Hospital Medicine services.
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage adult hospitalized patients.
Perform patient admissions, daily rounds, and discharges.
Develop and implement treatment plans.
Coordinate patient care with specialists, nursing staff, case managers, and ancillary teams.
Document patient encounters accurately and timely within the EMR.
Participate in handoffs and communicate effectively with incoming providers.
Ensure continuity and quality of patient care throughout the hospitalization.
Adhere to facility policies, procedures, and quality standards.

Qualifications

For Physicians:
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine (IM) or Family Medicine (FM).
Active and unrestricted Washington, DC medical license.
Active DEA registration.
Active Controlled Substance Registration (CSR).

For Nurse Practitioners:
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Active and unrestricted Washington, DC NP license.
Active DEA registration.
Active Controlled Substance Registration (CSR).
Hospital Medicine or inpatient experience preferred.

Working Hours

Schedule / Working Hours:

Physician (MD) Coverage:
Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Nurse Practitioner (NP) Coverage:
Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Skills

Strong inpatient clinical management skills.
Experience managing hospitalized adult patients.
Excellent diagnostic and clinical decision-making abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Effective patient care coordination and transition management skills.
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Ability to manage admissions, rounding, and discharges efficiently.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
