Bring Better to the Bedside as a Hospital Medicine Physician in Albuquerque, NM at University of New Mexico Hospital

Local Team Collaboration:

  • University of New Mexico Hospital, the state’s academic health center, is a 618-bed Level I Trauma Center and the primary teaching hospital for the UNM School of Medicine, delivering advanced care for complex health needs in the Southwest with a dedicated Children’s Hospital.
  • Join a collaborative and close-knit team of 14 physicians, including 5 day rounders, a swing rounder, a dedicated nocturnist, and a night APP.
  • Work within a culture built on integrity, honesty, and support, with excellent retention among physicians, APPs, and nursing staff.

Qualifications:

  • Internal medicine or family medicine trained candidates are eligible.
  • Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible, with the expectation of obtaining certification.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Flexible Scheduling:

  • 7 on/7 off block schedule for continuity of care.
  • Closed ICU – no procedures required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Cerner EMR along with access to Sound Physicians’ internal informatics platform.
  • Participate as part of the Rapid Response Team, responding to codes run by the ICU team.
  • Manage complex cases in an open ICU environment with intensivist coverage, without the expectation of performing procedures or running codes.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team and occasionally contribute to teaching medical students and APP students from surrounding universities and programs.
  • Engage in regular team meetings two to three times per week to review critical updates, along with monthly regional meetings to discuss performance and operational initiatives.

Rewards and Compensation:

  • Day Shift Rate: $1,829.00
  • Night Shift Rate: $2,109.00
