Job description

Join Our Red Bluff, California Team as a Hospital Medicine Physician – A Role Designed for You

Our mission in Red Bluff is to provide “better” in every sense—better healthcare, better teamwork, and a lasting impact on the community we proudly serve. Ready to grow your career in a place that values community and collaboration? Let’s talk.

Local Team Collaboration:

  • Join our close-knit team of 6 physicians and 3 APPs, with the support of a clinical performance nurse at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital.
  • Our dedicated team consists of two hospitalists during the day and one at night (one APP during the day).
  • We are a diverse team from different ethnic backgrounds and training programs, including internal medicine, internal medicine/pediatrics, and family medicine.
  • At St. Elizabeth, we’re more than just a healthcare team; we’re a community. We actively participate in various hospital committees.

Qualifications:

  • A Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board certified/eligible in internal, family medicine, or med/peds.
  • Med/peds or family medicine will also have the opportunity to provide coverage for pediatric patients.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Scheduling:

  • We offer an array of flexible scheduling options, including a balanced 7-days-on, 7-days-off block schedule, allowing for quality time at work and home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You’ll experience an average census of 10-12 per physician, with 1-3 admissions per day and 2-6 admissions per night.
  • For pediatric coverage, you’ll experience 1-2 patients per day – primarily newborns, who may also require resuscitation for critical newborns until transfer, and assist the ER in facilitating transfers of critical patients.
  • We welcome the challenge of complex cases, working in an open ICU with telemedicine critical care 24/7. We do most procedures and run codes.
  • Cerner EMR and access to Sound Physicians' internal informatics platform.
  • Phone consultations with specialists at our larger regional hospital complement opportunities for independent practice.
  • We maintain strong connections through team meetings held monthly or bi-monthly.

Living and Working in Red Bluff:

  • Nestled in Tehama County, midway between Sacramento and the Oregon border, Red Bluff boasts a population of around 14,000 on the scenic Sacramento River. Serving as a gateway to Lassen Volcanic National Park, it features a Mediterranean climate and is renowned for agriculture, a charming downtown, affordability, and proximity to larger cities, fostering a strong sense of community and making it an attractive place to call home.
  • St. Elizabeth Community Hospital is a rural gem spread over 3,000 square miles, serving a population of 65,000.

Compensation:

  • Expected yearly salary is $320,000-$330,000, depending on experience, with an opportunity for competitive bonus/loan forgiveness options.
