Position Summary
The facility is seeking a dedicated and skilled
Internal Medicine Hospitalist
to join its growing inpatient medicine team in
Dothan, Alabama
.
This full-time clinical role offers a stable hospital-employed position with a well-structured program, manageable patient volumes, strong APP support, and access to advanced medical resources. The Hospitalist will provide high-quality inpatient care, collaborate closely with specialists, and support safe, efficient transitions of care.

Essential Position Responsibilities
Inpatient Clinical Care
Provide comprehensive Internal Medicine inpatient care
Manage acute medical conditions, chronic disease exacerbations, and complex cases
Round daily on assigned patients and ensure timely documentation in the EHR
Coordinate patient management plans with nursing staff, APPs, and ancillary teams
Facilitate safe and efficient admissions, discharges, and transitions of care
Procedures & Clinical Skills
Perform or coordinate common hospitalist procedures (paracentesis, thoracentesis, line placements, etc.) as applicable
Manage emergencies until specialty teams assume care
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with consulting specialists, case management, nursing, and support staff
Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care planning
Ensure clear communication with patients and families regarding treatment plans and progress
Hospital Medicine Program Support
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety efforts
Support hospital throughput, efficiency, and clinical best practices
Uphold professional, ethical, and evidence-based standards of care
Qualifications
Education
M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency
Licensure & Certification
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
Eligible for or holding an active Alabama medical license
Current BLS and ACLS certifications
Experience
Open to new graduates and experienced Hospitalists
Prior inpatient or hospitalist experience preferred but not required
Skills
Strong inpatient clinical decision-making abilities
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced hospital environment
