Job Description

Last Update: 5/08/24

To potential physician leaders,

I am the regional medical director for Sound Physicians, overseeing the dedicated hospitalist team at Brockton Hospital in Brockton, Massachusetts, just an hour drive from Boston. I extend a warm welcome to physician leaders who are considering advancing their careers or seeking a change.

I’m seeking a self-driven, goal-oriented individual who can adapt and serve as a leader for our team. We offer internal programs to develop or refine your leadership skills, fostering connections with a cohort of other medical directors. Both internal and family medicine physicians are encouraged to apply.

I’d like to provide you with deeper insight into who we are and what we do, focusing on our people, practice, and purpose as you contemplate your options:

People
  • Brockton Hospital has been closed for a little more than a year due to a fire. It will be reopening on August 1, 2024.
  • We are in the rebuilding phase and when fully staffed, our team will be comprised of ten physicians and twelve advanced practice providers (APPs). Together, they will collaborate with other hospital staff and departments to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
  • I’m committed to providing you with the support and resources you need to excel in your role, trusting you to meet our client’s needs.
  • We’re fortunate to have a dedicated site coordinator assigned to this team who will help maintain a healthy work-life balance.
  • Our clinical performance nurse will assist in delivering an exceptional patient care experience.
  • Located in Brockton, we enjoy the vibrancy of a history-rich area with excellent schools, cultural activities, sporting events, shopping and more! Our strategic location places us between Boston and Providence, with Massachusetts shorelines just a short drive away.
  • We are proud to offer sponsorship for J1-visa through Conrad 30 as well as H1b cap and non-exempt.
Practice
  • The hospital has a closed ICU with intensivists on hand 24/7.
  • Our responsibilities encompass rounds, admissions, discharges, multidisciplinary rounds, limited APP supervision, and the option to teach transitional year residents from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. We engage in geographic rounding when feasible.
  • As part of our hospitalist team, you’ll contribute to the rapid response and code team. We are all certified in basic life support and advanced cardiovascular life support, with the intensivist team taking over the code once they arrive.
  • Our team will connect frequently over lunch to address concerns and receive updates on Sound and hospital matters.
  • Your schedule will be Monday through Friday with an expectation that five of those days per month would be clinical shifts.
  • We use Meditech and have access to our own internal informatics platform.
  • Our comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with a match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and an annual CME allowance. Additionally, we offer a Path to Partnership track for securing your future. You will also enjoy paid time off and paid holidays.
Purpose
  • Our unwavering commitment is to put patients first, always.
  • I chose Sound because hospitalist medicine is at our core, and the organization has established effective processes for better patient care. I remain with Sound because the medical group has allowed me to create an environment in which clinicians find the practice of medicine enjoyable again.
  • We highly value and support growth and development within our hospital medicine practice, offering opportunities for exploration at the local level and within the broader medical group.
  • One of the ways Brockton Hospital is committed to keeping its community healthy is by offering free Zumba classes remotely once a week.
