To prospective teammates,

I’m the medical director for Sound’s hospitalist practice at Ascension Seton Hays in Kyle, Texas. I have been a part of Sound Physicians for six and a half years and welcome interest from physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) coming out of training or desiring a career change. I want to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider options:

People
  • The team consists of hardworking and diligent high performers who prioritize the well-being of the program and physicians.
  • The day-to-day culture is characterized by the program’s friendly and more rural atmosphere. Both nursing staff and consultants are known for their approachability and kindness. The hospital culture is akin to one big family, fostering a sense of closeness and camaraderie.
  • As a medical director, I embrace a leadership style founded on collaboration, transparency, and the empowerment of physician autonomy. I hold teamwork in high regard and am always willing to adapt to changes in the healthcare landscape.
  • Sound’s commitment to sound physicians encompasses a focus on quality patient care and outcomes, coupled with dedicated support for career development, fostering continuous learning, skill enhancement, and professional growth.
Practice
  • We offer around-the-clock inpatient care for most hospital patients at Ascension Seton Hays in Kyle, TX.
  • In our daily practice, we deliver a high level of care to a sizable, underserved community, frequently serving as the initial point of contact for treating illnesses and establishing care for individuals in need within central Texas.
  • Team members participate in hospital committees, including MEC, Sepsis, Stroke, Hypoglycemia, Antimicrobial Stewardship, Throughput, and Readmissions.
  • The community exhibits characteristics of being underserved, facing a high burden of uncontrolled health diseases, and experiencing income disparity. Our organization maintains a robust case management and quality department strategically positioned to offer financial assistance and comprehensive care coordination to individuals facing such challenges.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
Purpose
  • We put patients first. Always.
  • A focus on growth and development is a key feature of Sound’s practices, where teammates can expand their careers here locally and within the broader medical group.
  • We’re a community-minded team and encourage our team members who want to contribute in and out of the hospital to help make our local community thrive.
