To prospective hospitalist teammates,

I am privileged to serve as the medical director of Sound Physicians’ hospitalist program at St. Joseph London, a 150-bed hospital located in London, Kentucky. We take pride in the growth and success of our hospital medicine practice, and we warmly welcome the interest of both physicians who are emerging from their training or looking for a new career path. As you explore your options, I would like to provide you with a deeper insight into our people, practice, and purpose.

People:
  • We are a well-established, collaborative team consisting of 10 physicians and 2 advanced practice providers (APPs), supported by a clinical performance nurse.
  • Our program is divided into two daytime groups, each comprised of four physicians and one APP, with a dedicated nocturnist physician for night coverage.
  • Many of our physicians and APPs call London, Kentucky their home.
  • Our hospitalists actively engage in various medical staff committees, including the credentialing committee, and medical executive committee – we hold key positions as medical staff officers. We work in close collaboration with nursing staff on multiple committees, fostering improved communication and patient care.
  • Teamwork is a cornerstone of our approach, and we actively support each other at every turn.
  • For those requiring visa sponsorship (H1B or J1), we proudly offer this service, with dedicated in-house visa specialists and licensing and credentialing experts. All essential visa filing fees and services are fully covered by Sound.
Practice:
  • We relish the challenge of managing complex cases within a semi-open ICU that benefits from intensivist coverage around the clock. Our team is not responsible for procedures or code management.
  • We actively engage in teaching, working alongside medical students, APPs, and residents from Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee.
  • Weekly group huddles allow us to discuss daily challenges and share important updates.
  • Recognizing the importance of work-life balance, we offer a flexible schedule that accommodates personal commitments. We have a culture of covering for each other when one of us needs time off.
  • Our benefits package includes comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability coverage, a 401k plan with matching contributions, paid medical malpractice insurance, tail coverage, and an annual CME allowance.
Purpose:
  • We put patients first. Always.
  • At Sound Physicians, fostering growth and development is a cornerstone of our practice. We provide opportunities for physicians to advance their careers both locally and within our broader medical group.
  • We consider ourselves an integral part of the community, actively encouraging our team members to contribute both within and outside the hospital, thereby helping to ensure the continued prosperity of our local community.

Our community offers a unique blend of small-town charm and vibrant opportunities. Nestled in the heart of Kentucky, London boasts picturesque natural landscapes, a rich cultural heritage, and a close-knit community that values the well-being of its residents. Our team members who call London home have discovered the joy of living in a place where both their professional and personal lives can flourish.
