An award-winning community hospital in northern Vermont is adding a Hospitalist Medical Director. The hospital has been named one of the Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals in the nation multiple times. Opportunity:

  • Hours: 36-40 hours per week with 8-12 hours dedicated to Medical Director duties
  • Oversee medical staff in 34 bed Progressive Care Unit which is a combination of ICU, Stepdown, and Med/Surg
  • The types of services provided in this unit included caring for patients at risk of developing life-threatening problems
  • The step-down beds were used for people who are transitioning between the intensive care unit and the medical/surgical unit
  • No call requirement
  • No procedures. Hospitalist team runs codes
  • Hospitalist team of 4 physicians, 2 advanced practitioners, as well as per diem support

  • Our Medical Center is a state-of-the-art hospital with newly constructed, private inpatient rooms and offers 24/7 care in the emergency department with strong specialty backup
  • We have a close collaboration with UVM Medical Center which is our primary referral hospital located only 30 minutes away
  • We also partner with Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center to provide 24/7 critical care telemedicine support for our hospitalist and nursing team

Financial package:

  • High base salary plus sign-on, relocation, and educational loan repayment
  • Benefits include: CME at $6500/year; 80 hours per year, Malpractice, Tail Insurance, disability, and 457 b retirement plan
