Medical Director – Hospice & Palliative Care Leadership Opportunity

A respected healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and physician oversight for a hospice and palliative care program serving patients and families throughout the community.

This physician leader will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure compassionate, high-quality, patient-centered care while supporting clinical excellence, provider collaboration, and continuous improvement.

The Medical Director will serve as a key clinical resource for physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and care team members while helping guide individualized care plans focused on dignity, comfort, and quality of life.

This is an excellent opportunity for a physician passionate about hospice, palliative care, geriatrics, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of patients and families.

Job Responsibilities

Provide medical leadership and oversight for hospice and palliative care services
Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams including nurses, social workers, chaplains, and other healthcare professionals
Support individualized patient care plans and clinical decision-making
Provide guidance related to symptom management, pain management, and complex medical needs
Participate in patient evaluations, facility visits, and clinical consultations as needed
Support physician and advanced practice provider collaboration
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance activities
Develop professional relationships with healthcare partners and community providers
Provide education and clinical guidance to care teams

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Active, unrestricted Kentucky medical license
Active DEA registration
Valid NPI registration
Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related specialty
Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Hospice Medical Director experience
Board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
Experience in hospice, palliative care, geriatrics, internal medicine, or family medicine
Previous physician leadership experience
Experience with quality improvement and healthcare compliance
