Premium Rates | Ongoing Need | Telehealth-Based Role

Providence Hospice, part of Providence St. Joseph Health, is seeking at least two (2) Hospice & Palliative Medicine physicians for an ongoing locum tenens assignment providing telehealth coverage for the Portland, OR metro area.

This is a long-term vacancy search with competitive rates and a strong emphasis on quality and continuity of care.

Assignment Overview

  • Specialty: Hospice & Palliative Medicine

  • Start Date: January 16, 2026

  • Duration: Ongoing

  • Providers Needed: 2 physicians

  • Practice Setting: 100% Telehealth

  • EMR: Epic

  • Coverage Type: Scheduled clinical hours + call

  • Facility: Providence Hospice (Portland Metro / SW Washington coverage)

Schedule & Call

  • Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (lunch as able)

  • Guaranteed Hours: 8 hours per day

  • Overtime: Applies after 9 hours/day

  • Call:

    • 4–6 weeknights per month

    • ~1 weekend per month

    • Shared call between Portland & Medford

  • Call Details:

    • Mix of admissions, symptom management, crisis visits, GIP admits

    • Weeknight volume varies (may range from minimal calls to multiple admits)

    • Weekend volume can be busy depending on census and complexity

    • NP coverage may overlap at times

Patient & Clinical Scope

  • Telehealth hospice visits and consults

  • IDT participation

  • Medical consults

  • CTIs and admissions

  • Shared census (Portland currently ~350 patients across providers)

Licensure & Requirements

  • Active Oregon medical license + OR DEA (required)

  • Active Washington medical license + WA DEA (required)- We can help with WA Licensure!

    • Patients are treated in SW Washington as part of the Portland metro area

  • Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible (within 5 years of residency)

  • Preferred Background:

    • Hospice & Palliative Medicine

    • FM or IM physicians must have substantial hospice experience

  • BLS required

Additional Notes

  • Telehealth role – no hospital privileges required

  • No admissions or rounding responsibilities

  • Multiple providers accepted

  • Epic EMR experience preferred
