Compensation: (varies depending on years of experience)

  • Physicians: $105–$115 per hour
  • Nurse Practitioners: $90 per hour

We are seeking a compassionate Physician (MD/DO) or Nurse Practitioner to provide high-quality hospice and palliative care coverage on weekends. This role is ideal for clinicians who are committed to supporting patients and families facing advanced or life-limiting illnesses while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.

Position Overview:

  • Provide weekend coverage, including rounding on existing patients and handling new admissions.
  • Shifts available on Saturdays and Sundays, typically 8–10 hours each day.
  • Focus on symptom management, patient comfort, and family support.
  • Work closely with nurses, social workers, and chaplains to deliver holistic care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct rounds on hospice and palliative care patients, assessing symptoms and adjusting care plans as needed.
  • Admit new patients referred for services during weekend shifts.
  • Manage urgent clinical issues such as pain, dyspnea, agitation, or nausea.
  • Provide emotional and clinical guidance to patients and families during difficult transitions.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and respond to calls for medical input.
  • Document care accurately and efficiently in the EMR.
  • Communicate with the weekday team to ensure continuity of care and seamless handoffs.

Requirements:

  • Physician (MD/DO) or Nurse Practitioner with acute care or hospitalist experience; fellowship in palliative medicine is welcomed but not required.
  • Skilled at symptom management and decision-making in acute settings.
  • Compassionate, sensitive, and comfortable supporting families at the bedside.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
