Medical Oncologist
Job at a glance
Job description
We partner with rural hospitals, local clinicians, and communities to expand access to high-quality care and strengthen the long-term sustainability of rural healthcare.
Our Oncology team brings comprehensive cancer care closer to where patients live. Our model combines trusted local care teams, scheduled in-person physician presence, teleoncology, and centralized clinical and operational support. The result is a durable local cancer program designed around continuity, safety, and the realities of rural life.
Job Responsibilities
Care is delivered through a planned combination of virtual and in-person clinic days. Virtual visits are supported by local clinical teams at partner hospitals, and physicians travel to assigned communities on a structured cadence. The practice is primarily outpatient and does not include routine inpatient consultative service or procedural responsibilities. Physicians have meaningful clinical autonomy, local nursing support, growing centralized infrastructure, and opportunities to help shape the national platform and assume clinical or program leadership.
Qualifications
• U.S. or Canadian graduates: A medical education program accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA), or Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS), as applicable.
• International medical graduates: A school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools with an ECFMG Sponsor Note applicable to the candidate’s graduation year, together with ECFMG Certification acceptable for U.S. licensure and credentialing.
• Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency and an ACGME-accredited Medical Oncology or Hematology/Medical Oncology fellowship, or a Canadian program recognized by ABIM.
• Current ABIM certification in Medical Oncology. ABIM certification in Hematology is strongly preferred; candidates whose practice will include classical hematology must demonstrate appropriate training and recent clinical experience in that scope.
• An active, unrestricted U.S. medical license and eligibility to obtain and maintain licensure in all assigned states. Eligibility to use the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact is strongly preferred; willingness to complete multistate licensure is required.
• Eligibility for medical-staff appointment, clinical privileges, payer enrollment, DEA registration, and applicable state controlled-substance registrations.
• Demonstrated proficiency with an electronic health record, including clinical documentation, results management, electronic prescribing, and oncology treatment-plan and chemotherapy-order entry.
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients and families and the ability to collaborate effectively with geographically distributed clinical and operational teams.
