Description:
Seeking a board-certified Hematology/Oncology physician for an outpatient locum tenens opportunity in Ketchikan, Alaska. This position offers five consecutive days of coverage per month, with weekday clinic hours and no scheduled call.
The physician will provide medical oncology and hematology services, oversee infusion care, perform bone marrow biopsies, and manage patient follow-up and inbox coverage between visits. Hospital and clinic privileges are required.
Job Responsibilities
Evaluate and manage adult and geriatric patients.
Perform bone marrow biopsies.
Oversee and support infusion-related patient care.
Manage patient calls, inbox messages, and clinical decisions between visits.
Coordinate care with nursing, medical assistants, and hospital pharmacy staff.
Participate in tumor board activities as appropriate.
Qualifications
Active Alaska medical license required at the time of presentation.
DEA registration required.
BLS or ACLS required.
PALS preferred.
Must provide 24 months of case logs demonstrating recent hematology/medical oncology experience. This may be waived for physicians who completed training within the previous year.
Hospital and outpatient clinic privileges required.
Working Hours
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
One-hour lunch break.
No scheduled call.
Remote inbox coverage included.
Ongoing coverage need, with current approval through March 30, 2027.
