Hematology-Oncology Physician Needed | Clinic + Inpatient Coverage
Protean Med is seeking a Board-Certified Hematology & Oncology Physician for an ongoing opportunity at a free-standing cancer center in Greenville, South Carolina. This role includes outpatient clinic coverage, inpatient care, and weekend call rotation.
Location: Greenville, South Carolina
Position Type: Locum Tenens
Start Date: November 2, 2026 – Ongoing
Clinic Hours: 8:30 AM–4:30 PM
Weekend Call: Friday 4:30 PM–Monday 8:00 AM, approximately every 5th or 6th weekend
EMR: Epic
Practice Highlights
-
65% benign hematology and 35% malignant oncology
-
Outpatient volume: Approximately 25 patients per day
-
Inpatient volume: Approximately 20 patients per day

Work alongside 5 physicians and 8 APPs
-
Participate in tumor boards and manage bone marrow transplant and blood bank-related care
-
Order diagnostic tests and imaging, and prescribe medications

Chemotherapy administration handled by oncology nurses
Important: Both outpatient and inpatient coverage are required. Candidates must be willing to provide inpatient care and treat more than 12 patients per day.
Requirements

Board Certified in Hematology & Oncology

Active South Carolina license preferred; candidates willing to obtain one will be considered

Current BLS and DEA registration
-
Availability to provide 2–4 weeks per month

Clean background required for emergency temporary privileges
Credentialing: Approximately 60 days.
