A hospital system in the Greenville, SC area is looking for a hematologist/oncologist for locum coverage from November 2, 2026 through January 29, 2027, with temporary privileges available for a quick start. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, and the clinic is a free-standing cancer center that sees about 25 patients a day, mostly benign hematology (65 percent) with 35 percent malignant oncology. Pay is $327.25 per hour, with overtime at 1.5x ($490.88 per hour). Call is light: a weekend rotation every 5th or 6th weekend and a hospital service week every 6 to 8 weeks, with details shared on a call. Flights, hotel, rental car, and mileage are reimbursed.
Job Responsibilities
- Cover the inpatient hospital service about one week in every 6 to 8 weeks, about 20 patients a day
- Take weekend call from Friday 4:30pm to Monday 8am every 5th or 6th weekend
- Participate in tumor board and manage bone marrow transplant patients and blood bank needs
- Order tests and imaging and prescribe; chemotherapy is administered by oncology nurses
- Document in Epic
Qualifications
- Active South Carolina license
- BLS and DEA
- Clean background (required for temporary privileges)
- Availability of 2 to 4 weeks per month
- Willingness to take inpatient coverage
