Organization Overview

A respected, community-based academic health system serving Southeast Alabama, Southwest Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle is seeking a Hematology/Oncology Physician to join its growing cancer care program in Dothan, Alabama.

Position Overview

The organization is seeking a Board Eligible or Board Certified Hematology/Oncology Physician to join its growing cancer care program in Dothan, Alabama.

This position offers a balanced mix of hematology and oncology services within an established multidisciplinary cancer program

The physician will have the opportunity to develop and grow a robust practice while serving a large regional referral population.

The organization welcomes both experienced Hematology/Oncology physicians and 2026 and 2027 fellowship graduates. J-1 waiver support and H-1B visa sponsorship are available for qualified candidates.

Essential Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat a broad range of hematologic disorders and malignant diseases

• Develop and manage individualized treatment plans

• Provide chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive care as appropriate

• Evaluate and manage benign hematology conditions, including:

  • Anemia

  • Thrombosis

  • Bleeding disorders

  • Hematologic abnormalities

• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards

• Collaborate on comprehensive cancer care planning

• Coordinate care with surgeons, radiation oncologists, primary care physicians, and other specialists

• Monitor treatment response and patient outcomes

• Provide survivorship care and long-term follow-up

• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives

• Follow evidence-based oncology practices and treatment guidelines

Qualifications

Education

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school

• Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program

• Completion of an accredited Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program

Board Certification & Licensure

• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Hematology and Oncology

• Eligible for or currently holding an active Alabama medical license

• Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain

• Current BLS certification

• ACLS certification preferred
