Job description
We are seeking a Board Certified Hematology/Oncology Physician for a 39-week outpatient locum assignment in North Carolina, beginning December 2026. This opportunity has a strong benign Hematology focus, a four-day workweek, and a multidisciplinary support team.
Assignment Details
- Start Date: December 14, 2026
- Assignment Length: 39 weeks
- 1 physician needed
- 100% ambulatory clinic setting
- Travel support available for flights, rental car, and lodging
Schedule
- 4 days per week
- Four 10-hour shifts
- 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Daytime coverage
Practice Setting
- Ambulatory Hematology/Oncology clinic
- Primary focus on benign Hematology
- Approximately 60–65% Hematology, with some monthly variation
- Bread-and-butter Hematology/Oncology
- Epic EMR
Patient Volume
- Minimum of approximately 15 Hematology patients per day
- New and established patients
Clinical Responsibilities
- Evaluate new patients
- Provide follow-up care
- Benign Hematology management
- General Hematology/Oncology care
- Write treatment orders and prescriptions
- Communicate and coordinate with pharmacy
- Must be comfortable functioning in a general Oncology setting when needed
Support Staff
- 1–2 physicians
- APPs
- Nurses
- Patient navigator
- Infusion specialist
- Pharmacy
- Administrative support
- Physician will not work entirely independently
Requirements
- MD or DO
- Board Certification in Hematology or Oncology required
- Dual Hematology/Oncology certification preferred
- Oncology Board Certification required if seeing Oncology patients
- Active North Carolina medical license required
- DEA required
- BLS required
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience
- Must complete an Epic assessment before starting
Credentialing
- Approximately 60–90 days
- All orientation hours are billable
Ideal Candidate
A Board Certified Hematologist or Hematologist/Oncologist with an active North Carolina license and at least 2–3 years of experience. The strongest fit will be comfortable managing benign Hematology and general Hematology/Oncology patients while working collaboratively with an established multidisciplinary team.
