Ballad Health needs 2 hematology/oncology physicians for a float position across three Virginia sites, starting 11/1/2026, full-time. $5,005 per 24-hour day (covers both call and the 8-hour clinic day worked while on call), $7,507.50/day holidays, $770/hr callback.

Job Responsibilities

One week of 24-hour call per month covering all three sites (JMH, SCCH, RCH), RCH coverage is telehealth-only and only during your assigned call week. Primarily floats between JMH (primary site) and SCCH: roughly 2 weeks/month at JMH, the remaining 2 weeks split 2 days/week at SCCH and 2 days/week at JMH. During call week, you maintain full clinic responsibilities including Friday clinic at JMH. Inpatient consults at JMH as needed, telehealth acceptable at other sites unless onsite coverage is required. SCCH runs 30% Onc/70% Hem with a 6-chair infusion satellite and clinic. JMH runs 50% Onc/50% Hem with a 21-chair infusion center, provider clinic, and onsite radiation oncology. About 15 patients/day, adults 18+. Dedicated nursing staff. Chart in Epic (no training provided, must already know it).

Qualifications

Board certified in Hematology/Oncology required. Active Virginia license required in hand, no IMLC accepted, 60-day start requires licensure already secured. BLS and DEA required. 1 year minimum experience. Clean background required, no malpractice history of any kind, even settled, will be considered. Credentialing runs approximately 60 days.

Working Hours

Full-time. 24-hour call shifts (8a-8a) one week/month while maintaining clinic (8:30a-4:30p). Remaining weeks split between JMH and SCCH.
