Seeking a Locum Hematology/Oncology Physician to provide outpatient hematology and medical oncology coverage for adult and geriatric patients. The position includes both hospital and clinic privileges within the same building, with the physician working independently in an outpatient setting.
The role includes infusion services, medical oncology, hematology care, and bone marrow biopsy procedures. EPIC is the required EMR, and there is no call responsibility.
Job Responsibilities
• Evaluate and manage hematology and oncology conditions
• Provide medical oncology and hematology services
• Manage patients receiving infusion therapy
• Perform bone marrow biopsies
• Provide outpatient consultations and follow up care
• Review diagnostic studies and develop appropriate treatment plans
• Manage ongoing cancer and hematologic conditions
• Maintain accurate patient documentation in EPIC
• Work independently in an outpatient setting
• Collaborate with clinical and support staff as needed
• Maintain both hospital and clinic privileges
• Provide remote inbox coverage as scheduled
• Support continuity of care throughout the assignment
Qualifications
• Active Alaska Physician License required at time of presentation
• DEA required
• BLS, ACLS, or PALS certification required
• PALS preferred
• Recent experience providing Hematology and Medical Oncology services
• Experience with infusion and medical oncology/hematology
• Experience performing bone marrow biopsies
• EPIC EMR experience
• Must provide 24 months of relevant case logs demonstrating hematology/medical oncology experience representative of requested privileges
• Case log requirement may be waived for physicians who completed training within the previous year
• Ability to work independently
• Clean credentialing file preferred due to expedited credentialing needs
Working Hours
• Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Lunch: 1 hour
• Coverage: 5 days per month
• Call: No call
• Setting: Outpatient
• Remote: Remote inbox coverage included
• Average daily patient volume: approximately 12–16 patients
• Coverage approval currently through March 30, 2027
