Job description
We are seeking a Hematology/Oncology Physician for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity supporting both Chambersburg and Waynesboro Hospitals in Pennsylvania.
The physician will provide outpatient Hematology/Oncology care with additional inpatient and emergency department consultation support. The practice primarily manages adult oncology and hematology patients, with approximately two-thirds oncology and one-third hematology.
This is a full-time opportunity, although the facility will consider providers available for a minimum of 3 days per week.
Job Responsibilities
Evaluate and manage adult oncology and hematology patients.
Conduct new patient consultations and established patient follow-ups.
Provide hospital and emergency department Hematology/Oncology consultations.
Provide clinical guidance for inpatient Hem/Onc cases.
Participate in approximately 1–2 hours of hospital rounding/consultation when required.
Support patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, IVIG, IV iron, and other oncology treatments.
Coordinate care with radiation oncology and other specialists.
Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board activities.
Serve as a supervising physician for designated morning and afternoon sessions each week.
Address urgent patient needs for providers who are not in the office.
Communicate with hospitals through secure messaging during clinic hours.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Epic/Nuance.
Collaborate with NPs, hematologists, nurses, navigators, and other members of the care team.
Qualifications
Fellowship training in Hematology/Oncology required
Board Certification required; double board certification preferred
Pennsylvania medical license preferred
IMLC candidates may be considered
Willingness to obtain Pennsylvania licensure
Less experienced physicians may be considered
DEA requirements apply
Ability to provide inpatient and outpatient Hematology/Oncology services
Availability for approximately 1 week/month of night and weekend call
Working Hours
Full-time ongoing coverage preferred
Minimum availability accepted: 3 days/week
Approximately 1 week of call per month
Night and weekend call included in the call rotation
Call may involve both inpatient and telephone consultation
Typical call volume: 0–2 calls/day
Hospital rounding/consultation generally requires approximately 1–2 hours
Clinic schedule is not blocked specifically for hospital call/rounding
