Job description
We are seeking a Board-Certified Hematologist/Oncologist for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity at UPHS–Marquette in Michigan.
This is a predominantly outpatient practice with a collaborative team of physicians, APPs, oncology nurses, pharmacists, navigators, and support staff. Providers will care for adult hematology and oncology patients while enjoying a consistent weekday schedule with light call responsibilities.
Coverage is scheduled in two-week consecutive blocks each month, making this an excellent opportunity for physicians seeking predictable locum assignments.
Practice Highlights
- 99% outpatient practice
- Average 10–15 patients per day
- New patient consults: 60 minutes
- Follow-up visits: 30 minutes
- Limited inpatient responsibility with APP support
- Hospitalists admit patients; Oncology consulted as needed
- No chemotherapy inductions performed onsite
- Collegial four-provider practice
Job Responsibilities
Conduct new patient consultations and follow-up visits
Develop comprehensive treatment plans
Collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers and multidisciplinary oncology teams
Participate in weekly tumor board meetings
Provide occasional phone call coverage for established patients
Document patient encounters using Athena, Cerner, and ONCO EMR
Qualifications
Fellowship training preferred
Active Michigan medical license required
ACLS and BLS certifications required
Comfortable managing both hematology and medical oncology patients
Strong communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
Working Hours
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Ongoing assignment
Preferred coverage in two consecutive weeks per month
Occasional evening and weekend phone call
Beeper call with a 15-minute response time
Call is limited primarily to assigned patients
