Job description
We are seeking a Hematology/Oncology physician for a locum tenens position in Prestonsburg, KY. This is a low-volume outpatient clinic coverage opportunity with no call required. Please see below for more information.
EMR: Meditech
Job Responsibilities
Manage a patient mix of approximately 60% hematology and 40% solid tumor oncology
See an approximate split of 20% new patients and 80% follow-ups
Provide standard medical oncology supervision over infusion services
Coordinate with onsite oncology-trained RNs supporting infusion during clinic hours
Refer high-acuity cases such as acute leukemias to tertiary centers
Work alongside an onsite APP who assists with follow-ups, supportive care visits, documentation, and orders
Participate in tumor board
Coordinate with additional physician and APP support at the affiliated Hazard site
Qualifications
Active Kentucky state license
DEA
Working Hours
3 days per week preferred
Open to 2 providers working alternating shifts (1 or 2 weeks on/off)
Start Date: November 2026 or ASAP
Contract Length: 12 months preferred
Employment Type: Locum Tenens – 1099
