Job description
We are seeking a dedicated Hematology/Oncology Physician for a locum opportunity in Chambersburg, PA. This is a full-time, ongoing assignment offering a balanced mix of outpatient clinic responsibilities and inpatient consultative support. The provider will work within a collaborative oncology team and contribute to high-quality, patient-centered cancer care in a community-based setting.
Job Responsibilities
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with various cancers and blood disorders
Support inpatient and ER consults as needed
Develop and implement treatment plans including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, IVIG, and other therapies
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including oncology nurses, APPs, and specialists
Participate in tumor boards and care coordination activities
Handle on-call responsibilities including weekend and night coverage (approx. 1 week/month)
Provide supervision support for APPs during assigned sessions
Qualifications
Fellowship trained in Hematology/Oncology (required)
Active or willingness to obtain Pennsylvania medical license
DEA required
Experience preferred but open to less experienced providers
Strong clinical knowledge in solid tumors and hematologic conditions
Working Hours
Full-time ongoing coverage (minimum 3 days/week considered)
Call: 1 week/month (weekends + nights)
Weekend rounding: ~2 hours/day
Skills
Ability to manage chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive treatments
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Experience with EMR systems (EPIC preferred)
Ability to handle both outpatient and consultative inpatient care
