Hematology / Oncology – Breast Medical Oncologist Location: Hartford, CT Board Certified Hematology/Oncology Physician with breast cancer sub-specialization • Join a team of four breast medical oncologists within a large tertiary care academic center (867-bed facility) • Busy breast service managing 600+ new breast cancer cases annually • Practice within a multidisciplinary breast program including fellowship-trained breast surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and reconstructive surgeons • Supported by a mature genetic counseling program, active nurse navigator program, and developing survivorship, high-risk, patient education, and breast rehabilitation services Clinical & Academic Highlights: • Active clinical trials and health disparities research programs • Institutional membership in national cooperative research groups (e.g., SWOG and NRG) • Weekly Breast Tumor Board for collaborative case discussions • Inpatient coverage supported by hospitalist teams with oncology consult services • Opportunities for teaching, clinical research, and quality/outcomes research • Largest teaching hospital within the University of Connecticut School of Medicine system, with residents and oncology fellows in training Network & System Strengths: • Cancer Institute oversight across a 7-hospital healthcare system serving a significant portion of Connecticut • Strategic collaboration with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to align standards of care, access emerging technologies, and expand clinical trial opportunities • Multidisciplinary Breast Disease Management Team governing quality, research, and innovative program development • Financially secure, physician-led organization focused on growth and innovation Professional Development & Wellbeing: • Leadership and career advancement opportunities through a Physician Leadership Development Institute • Strong emphasis on physician wellness and engagement through an Office of Provider Wellness • Culture grounded in collaboration, innovation, and high-quality patient-centered care Location: • Based in Hartford, Connecticut • Ideally situated between Boston and New York City • Access to nationally recognized schools, four-season recreation, and diverse living options including shoreline, suburban, and urban communities Qualifications: • Board Certified in Hematology & Oncology • Board Certified in Internal Medicine • Demonstrated experience in a multidisciplinary breast care model • Academic accomplishment in clinical trials or quality improvement highly desirable • Eligible for licensure in the State of Connecticut
