Position Type: Locum | Physician – Hematology & Oncology

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Hematology Oncology physician for locum coverage providing a mix of clinic and inpatient services across two hospital campuses. This role offers a consistent weekday schedule with additional call responsibilities and outreach opportunities.

Practice Highlights

  • Medical Hematology/Oncology coverage 4–5 days per week

  • Inpatient coverage at two hospital locations

  • Clinic and inpatient responsibilities

  • Outreach coverage to nearby locations up to ~6 days per month

  • Telehealth services available

  • Nursing support with 1:1 coverage

  • Medical imaging, lab, and pharmacy services on-site

  • EMR: EPIC

Candidate Requirements

  • Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible in Hematology & Oncology – Required

  • Fellowship trained in Hematology & Oncology – Required

  • Active Iowa license or active IMLC (LOQ required at name clear)

  • Experienced provider only – Required

  • Must be willing to cover both hospital campuses

  • Clean malpractice and background history – Required

  • NPDB Self-Query (pulled within the last 30 days) required at presentation

Schedule & Coverage

  • Clinic days: 8 per month

  • Patient contact hours: 6 per day

  • Clinic hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

  • No OR/procedure days

  • On-call coverage required (schedule TBD ASAP)

  • Average clinic volume: 10–30 patients per day

  • Average inpatient census: 10–15 patients per day

  • Appointment times: 40-minute consults, 20-minute follow-ups

Scope of Practice

  • Patient assessments and new treatment planning

  • Ongoing treatment management and therapy adjustments

  • Chemotherapy management

  • Pain management and coordination with radiation and surgical oncology

  • Referrals for ancillary services

  • End-of-life care management
