Job Description

A Davenport Iowa client is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Oncology Hematology Physician to join our esteemed team. As an Oncology Hematology Physician, you will provide specialized medical care to patients diagnosed with cancer and blood disorders. Your expertise in oncology and hematology will be crucial in diagnosing, treating, and managing patients throughout their cancer journey. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop comprehensive treatment plans, deliver cutting-edge therapies, and provide compassionate support to patients and their families. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional clinical skills, a deep understanding of the latest advancements in oncology and hematology, and a strong commitment to patient-centered care. The position involves outpatient and inpatient consults in Davenport IA and Clinton IL.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited medical school with a MD or DO degree
  • Current Iowa and Illinois medical license
  • Completed an accredited residency program
  • Current DEA certificate
  • Board certified or board eligible
  • Current CPR certification

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat patients with various types of cancer and blood disorders, including solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, and benign hematological conditions.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including comprehensive medical histories, physical examinations, and review of diagnostic tests and imaging.
  • Interpret laboratory results, genetic tests, biopsies, and imaging studies to determine appropriate treatment options and prognosis.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on the patient's condition, stage of cancer, medical history, and patient preferences, incorporating the latest evidence-based guidelines and clinical trials.
  • Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and other systemic treatments, monitoring their effectiveness and managing treatment-related side effects.
  • Coordinate and oversee radiation therapy, surgical interventions, and interventional radiology procedures as part of a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Provide supportive care and symptom management to alleviate pain, nausea, fatigue, and other treatment-related complications.
  • Collaborate closely with oncology nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families, explaining diagnoses, treatment options, potential risks, and anticipated outcomes in a clear and empathetic manner.
  • Participate actively in tumor boards, case conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss complex cases and develop optimal treatment strategies.
  • Stay updated with the latest research, advancements, and clinical trials in oncology and hematology, incorporating evidence-based practices into patient care.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and timely in electronic medical records, maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Contribute to medical education and mentoring of medical students, residents, and fellows as appropriate.
