This 222-bed regional referral center serves a population of over 300,000 and is the only facility in the area offering all major service lines with 24/7 hospitalist support. The facility holds prestigious accreditations from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACOS CoC), National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), and American College of Radiology Radiation Oncology Practice Accreditation (ACR ROPA), reflecting its commitment to exceptional oncology care.Opportunity:
Employed - Hematology/OncologyJob Details:
- Join a Duke Cancer Care Affiliated program within a collegial and supportive group of five providers, including a physician and three Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
- Enjoy an estimated 95% outpatient and 5% inpatient mix, with APPs typically managing inpatient rounding and oncology consultations provided as needed for hospital admissions
- Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with patient care from 8 AM to noon and 1 PM to 5 PM
- New patient consults scheduled for 60 minutes and follow-up appointments for 15-30 minutes, with an average patient load of 18-25 patients per day
- Inpatient rounding managed by APPs, with admissions handled by a 24/7 hospitalist group
- Phone call schedule is 1:3 with very few calls; a triage nurse handles all incoming clinical calls, with ED physicians managing phone consults and acute leukemics referred to higher levels of care
- Participate in weekly tumor board meetings
- Access to a clinical research trial portfolio supported by a comprehensive team including a genetic counselor and dedicated research associate
- Providers assigned to three rooms with patients roomed by an RN and comprehensive assessments performed
- Work alongside a robust support team including 10 RNs, 2 navigators, 1 RN case manager, 2 pharmacists, 1 pharmacy tech, 1 lab tech, 1 office manager, 1 clinical director, 1 social worker, 2 financial counselors, 6 clerical staff, and 1 program director
