Metabolic Genetics Physician – Locum Opportunity

We are seeking a physician with Metabolic experience to provide ongoing locum coverage in a large academic hospital setting. This opportunity offers a balanced mix of outpatient clinic responsibilities, inpatient call coverage, and potential telehealth support while working alongside an established multidisciplinary team.

Schedule & Coverage

• Coverage needed: 1 week per month
• Clinic schedule:
  • Monday: Full-day clinic
  • Tuesday: Half-day clinic
  • Thursday: Full-day clinic
• All remaining weekdays and nightly coverage during the assignment week will consist of call responsibilities
• Additional telehealth coverage may be needed throughout the remainder of the month; schedule to be determined after start

Practice Setting

• Academic/teaching hospital environment
• Hospital-based practice
• 865-bed facility
• EMR: Epic

Team & Support

• Collaborative team consisting of:
  • 2 additional physicians
  • 1 Physician Assistant
• Strong interdisciplinary support within an academic medical center

Patient Population

• All ages treated, from newborns through end-of-life care
• Low daily patient volume averaging 1–2 patients per day, allowing for comprehensive and specialized care

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient metabolic clinic coverage
• Participate in inpatient and after-hours call coverage
• Manage patients with inherited metabolic disorders and related conditions
• Potentially provide telehealth consultations and follow-up care
• Collaborate with academic and clinical teams in a teaching hospital environment

Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in relevant specialty
• Required experience in Metabolic Medicine/Metabolic Genetics
• Comfortable treating pediatric and adult patient populations
• Experience working in an academic or hospital-based setting preferred
