Locums | Gastroenterology | Washington, MO (Active MO license required) Why This Role

  • Flexible 24-hour call coverage with multiple dates available
  • No scheduled clinic responsibilities
  • ERCP and EUS not required
  • Inpatient Gastroenterology coverage with relatively low patient volume
  • Additional coverage opportunities may be available
Assignment Details Start: November 24, 2026 Duration: Intermittent coverage through early 2027 Schedule: 24-hour beeper call, 7a-7a Coverage type: Call Only Call: Weekday and weekend coverage Call ratio: 1:3 Call response time: 30 minutes Setting: Inpatient Gastroenterology Patient volume: Approximately 4-10 patients/shift Phone consultations: Approximately 0-5 per call period Patients seen during call: Approximately 0-3 Admissions during call: Approximately 0-2 Department: 12 beds Trauma Level: III EMR: Epic Credentialing: Approximately 90 days Temporary privileges available Requested Coverage Dates November 24-25, 2026 | 7a-7a December 22-29, 2026 | 7a-7a January 5-8, 2027 | 7a-7a February 1-2, 2027 | 7a-7a (pending authorization) Clinical Details Inpatient Gastroenterology consultations Emergency and after-hours GI evaluation Upper GI endoscopy, including biopsy and foreign body removal Endoscopic management of GI bleeding Variceal treatment PEG placement Esophageal dilation and manometry interpretation Small bowel biopsy Sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy Colonoscopic biopsy and polypectomy Liver biopsy Sengstaken-Blakemore tube placement and management ERCP and EUS not required per facility clarification No scheduled outpatient clinic Requirements Board Certified in Gastroenterology Active MO medical license required ACLS required ATLS required BLS required Experience with inpatient and emergency Gastroenterology Proficiency in upper and lower GI endoscopy Ability to manage urgent GI bleeding and related complications Must meet 30-minute call response requirement Must provide specific available coverage dates with submission Compensation Facility is accepting bids 24-hour call and callback compensation to be confirmed Malpractice provided Travel and lodging reimbursement to be confirmed
