Coverage: Scheduled Clinical Hours Plus Call
EMR: Athena & Meditech
Schedule & Clinical Responsibilities:
- Procedures in the Endoscopy Suite: Mondays, Wednesdays, 1/2 Thursdays, and Fridays.
- Outpatient Clinic: Tuesdays and 1/2 Thursdays.
Daily volume: Approximately 20–25 patients per shift. - Night call coverage every night with rounding on hospital patient consults.
- Call response time required: Within 30 minutes.
- Typical 24-hour call activity: 1–2 phone consults, 1–2 patients seen, and 0 admissions.
- Estimated callback percentage: 5%.
Required Skills:
- Upper GI endoscopy (with biopsy, foreign body removal, fulguration of bleeder, and injection of varices)
- Lower GI endoscopy & Colonoscopy (with biopsy and polyp excision)
- Sigmoidoscopy (Flexible and Rigid)
- Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG)
- Esophageal dilatation
- Small bowel biopsy
Requirements:
- MD/DO degree.
- Board Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
- Active Virginia medical license.
- Temporary privileges available.
Practice Setting:
- Inpatient & Outpatient
- Stroke-certified facility
- 4 beds in department
- Support Staff: 2 RNs, 1 NP/PA, 1 MA, and 1 Office Staff member
- No APP supervision required
- No resident or teaching supervision required
