A health system in West Virginia needs a general GI hospitalist for a 26-week assignment starting January 4, 2027, on a 7-on, 7-off schedule. $475 an hour for day coverage, with night call, 24-hour call, and callbacks paid on top and overtime and holiday pay at $570 an hour. Your travel and expenses are covered.

Job Responsibilities

General GI hospitalist coverage across a system with 3 GI locations. Most past arrangements have been 8-hour day shifts with callbacks, and some providers have chosen two consecutive weeks. Night coverage is limited, since the team holds as much as possible until the next morning. You are supported by 9 advanced practice providers, several RNs, and LPNs and MAs across the sites, and two of the APPs are trained in advanced GI and do preliminary evaluations. Adult patients with an average age of 58. Cerner EMR.

Qualifications

Board certified in gastroenterology. A West Virginia license, an IMLC letter of qualification, or eligibility for the West Virginia temporary license. A DEA. BLS and ACLS. Credentialing takes 60 days or more, so apply early.

Working Hours

7 days on, 7 days off, starting January 4, 2027 for 26 weeks. Day coverage with night call, or 24-hour call days, depending on your preference. Pay: $475 an hour for day shifts, $475 for a night of call, $3,870 for a 24-hour call day, $485 an hour for callbacks, and $570 an hour for overtime after 40 hours and on holidays.
