Job description

An established, highly respected gastroenterology practice in northeast Pennsylvania, experiencing tremendous growth and demand and looking to add a Gastroenterologist to its collaborative team. You’ll walk into an established patient panel, strong referral base, modern facilities, experienced staff, and immediate procedural volume, allowing you to build a busy practice without spending years developing a patient base. The position offers a Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM schedule, manageable 15–20 patient days, shared call just 12 weeks per year, and an excellent compensation package. Whether you are an experienced Gastroenterologist or finishing training, this is an opportunity to join a growing practice where you can practice bread-and-butter general GI while having the flexibility to expand your scope.

Professional Highlights

  • Established, high-demand GI practice – Join an established gastroenterology practice with a tremendous reputation, strong referral base, and significant growth.

  • Immediate patient volume – Walk into a well-established patient panel with 15–20 patients per day and strong demand from the surrounding Wyoming Valley.

  • High procedural volume – Perform approximately 35–40 procedures per day / 150–200 procedures per week in a well-equipped environment.

  • 90% outpatient general GI – Enjoy a bread-and-butter general GI practice with flexibility to expand your clinical scope based on your interests.

  • Predictable Monday–Friday schedule – Practice from 8 AM–5 PM, providing a consistent schedule and excellent opportunity for work-life balance.

  • Shared call just 12 weeks per year – M–M, 7 AM–7 PM, with call rotated among the entire team to keep the burden manageable.

  • Collaborative team environment – Work alongside 2 Gastroenterologists and 3 APPs in an experienced, supportive practice.

  • Modern clinical infrastructure – Newly renovated clinic with 6 exam rooms, updated technology, Olympus scopes and video equipment, and a new ProVation medical documentation system.

  • Advanced GI capabilities – Access to Olympus 190 adult and pediatric scopes, high-resolution esophageal manometry, Bravo pH testing, and rapid PillCam.

  • Convenient 2-OR ASC next door – Perform outpatient procedures in a two-room ambulatory surgery center conveniently adjacent to the clinic, creating an efficient physician and patient experience.

  • Complex cases supported at the hospital – Advanced cases are performed at nearby premier Hospital with blocked OR scheduling.

  • Strong hospital partnership – Work closely with a 412-bed Level II Trauma Center, providing excellent resources when inpatient or advanced care is required.

  • Significant recruitment package – Receive a sign-on bonus, a relocation assistance, and a one-year guaranteed base.

  • Enhanced benefits – Health, vision, dental, 401(k), 5 weeks PTO, $5,000 CME allowance + 5 CME days, and malpractice/tail coverage.

  • ASC ownership opportunity – While there is no traditional practice partnership, physicians have the opportunity for ASC ownership, providing an additional avenue for long-term financial participation.

  • All experience levels welcome – The practice is open to experienced Gastroenterologists as well as physicians coming directly out of fellowship, and J-1 visa candidates are welcome.

Community Highlights

  • Wyoming Valley population of approximately 120,000 – Practice in an established regional market with a substantial population and strong demand for healthcare.

  • Enjoy a quieter residential setting while having the amenities of a larger city immediately next door and easy drives to multiple major metros.

  • Affordable Northeast living – Get considerably more home and space for your money than in many major Northeast metropolitan areas.

  • 30 minutes to the Pocono Mountains – Hiking, skiing, camping, fishing, mountain biking and four-season recreation are right in your backyard.

  • Under two hours to New York City and Philadelphia – Enjoy world-class restaurants, entertainment, professional sports, concerts, theater and cultural attractions without having to live in the city.

  • International Airport nearby – Convenient regional air travel without routinely driving hours to a major airport.

  • Susquehanna River lifestyle – Walking, running, cycling, kayaking and fishing are all part of the local outdoor lifestyle.

  • Dozens of surrounding communities – Choose from a variety of established suburbs depending on your preferred home, schools, commute and lifestyle.

  • Family-friendly environment – Enjoy quieter neighborhoods, parks, recreational opportunities and access to the broader Wyoming Valley's schools and amenities.

  • Four-season recreation – Experience beautiful Pennsylvania seasons with easy access to mountains, rivers, parks and outdoor activities.

  • Restaurants & entertainment – The area provides an extensive selection of restaurants, shopping, entertainment and services.

  • A true Northeast lifestyle – Live outside the congestion and cost of the major metros while remaining close enough to enjoy everything New York, Philadelphia and New Jersey have to offer.
