Job description
We are seeking Gastroenterology Physicians for a long-term locum assignment in Springfield, Oregon, beginning November 2026. The primary need is for physicians who perform ERCP, with inpatient rounding, new consults, procedures, and overnight call.
Assignment Details

- Current coverage approved through April 1, 2027
- 26-week assignment
- 4 positions available
- Adult inpatient Gastroenterology
- ERCP physicians are the primary need
- Strong non-ERCP Gastroenterologists may also be considered
- Travel available with caps
Schedule
- Daily coverage needed
- 7:00 AM–7:00 PM onsite
- Overnight call: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
- Evening call required with all shifts, including weekends
- Weekend coverage required
- Combination of scheduled coverage and call
Practice Setting
- Acute Care Hospital
- Inpatient Gastroenterology
- Epic EMR
- Adult patient population
- Inpatient rounding, consultations, and procedures
Patient Volume
- Approximately 14 patients per day per job overview
- Requisition census field lists approximately 10 patients per day
Clinical Responsibilities
- Inpatient Gastroenterology rounding
- New inpatient consultations
- GI procedures
- ERCP is the primary procedural need
- Overnight GI call
- Manage adult inpatient GI patients
Support Staff
- Physician will be the only inpatient Gastroenterologist
- Dedicated inpatient Gastroenterology PA available Monday–Friday
- Additional APP coverage is being considered
- Specialty consultants available as needed
- Access to outpatient GI colleagues for workflow questions and additional support
Requirements
- MD or DO
- Board Certified in Gastroenterology
- Oregon medical license preferred for faster onboarding
- Willing to license: Yes
- ACLS required
- Minimum 2 years of experience
- Epic experience required
- ERCP strongly preferred
- Must clearly identify whether provider performs ERCP when submitted
- Recent Gastroenterology clinical activity required
Case Log Requirements
- Documentation of Gastroenterology services from the previous 24 months
- Case logs must represent the scope and complexity of privileges requested
- Physicians who completed training within the previous year may provide a training log
Credentialing & Orientation
- 8 hours of non-billable orientation
- COVID-19 vaccination required with no exemptions
- Flu requirement not specified
Ideal Candidate
A Board Certified Gastroenterologist with recent inpatient experience who is comfortable providing 12-hour daytime coverage followed by overnight call. Physicians proficient in ERCP are the highest priority, although strong General Gastroenterologists without ERCP experience may also be considered.
