Job description
Job description
This locum gastroenterology assignment supports a high-priority coverage need while the facility recruits a permanent physician, combining 24-hour call coverage (7a–7a) with scheduled outpatient GI procedures (8a–4p) during call, including required weekend coverage for approximately 6–14 call days per month (targeting ~7/month). The provider will manage a mix of outpatient procedures and inpatient responsibilities, including colonoscopy, EGD, inpatient consults, rounding, and after-hours callbacks, with ERCP capability required and advanced endoscopy considered a plus. Typical workload includes a modest after-hours procedure burden (often ~1–2 hours of callbacks after procedures), with inpatient volumes around 3–4 consults on busy days and an average census of 3–4 patients, with one provider covering both call and inpatient rounding. Support includes MA assistance, clinic APPs for follow-up care, and anesthesiology coverage for all cases using MAC anesthesia, with potential for expanded clinic coverage over time.
