e are seeking a Board Certified Gastroenterologist for a 26-week locum opportunity in Bellingham, Washington, beginning October 2026. This assignment combines 24-hour GI call/hospitalist coverage, inpatient and outpatient Gastroenterology, clinic, and procedural work. Physicians must have recent ERCP experience and be comfortable providing comprehensive General GI coverage.

Assignment Details

  • Start Date: October 1, 2026
  • Assignment Length: Approximately 26 weeks / 6 months

  • Coverage needed due to a gap in coverage

Schedule

  • 24-hour Gastroenterology call/hospitalist shifts
  • Weekday and weekend coverage
  • Coverage includes clinical work plus overnight/beeper call

  • Outpatient procedures

Practice Setting

  • Inpatient and outpatient Gastroenterology
  • Hospital and clinic privileges
  • Acute Care Hospital
  • Approximately 253 beds
  • Adult patients ages 18+
  • Epic EMR
  • Provation GI experience preferred

Patient Volume

  • Clinic: Approximately 16 patients per day
  • Outpatient Endoscopy Center: Approximately 14–16 patients per day
  • Hospital census varies

Clinical Responsibilities

  • General Gastroenterology
  • 24-hour GI call
  • Inpatient rounding and admissions
  • Gastroenterology consultations
  • Outpatient clinic
  • Inpatient GI procedures
  • Outpatient endoscopy
  • ERCP required
  • May cover outpatient hospital endoscopy blocks
  • 24-hour General GI and ERCP coverage as applicable

Advanced Endoscopy

Requested privileges may include:

  • ERCP
  • EUS
  • Double-balloon enteroscopy
  • Capsule endoscopy

Support Staff

  • Physician will not work solo
  • Additional Gastroenterologists are part of the practice

Requirements

  • MD or DO
  • Board Certification in Gastroenterology required
  • ERCP experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience
  • ACLS required
  • Active Washington medical license preferred
  • IMLC accepted
  • Facility is willing to license
  • Epic experience required/preferred
  • Must demonstrate recent clinical activity supporting requested privileges

ERCP Credentialing Requirements

  • Recent ERCP case logs required
  • Clinical activity must represent the requested scope and complexity within the previous 24 months
  • Maintenance requirement of at least 50 successful ERCP procedures within the previous 2 years
  • If the 50-case requirement is not met, remaining cases must be proctored by a physician holding the privilege
  • Recent-training exceptions may apply to physicians who completed training within the previous year

Additional Procedure Credentialing

  • Gastroenterology case logs from the previous 24 months required
  • Additional documentation may be required for EUS, double-balloon enteroscopy, and capsule endoscopy privileges
  • Recent graduates may qualify for applicable training exceptions

Credentialing

  • Standard credentialing: Approximately 90 days from application
  • Temporary privileges listed at approximately 120 days
  • Expedited/fast-track privileges may be considered in certain circumstances

Immunization Requirements

  • COVID-19 vaccination required
  • No COVID exemptions accepted

Ideal Candidate

A Board Certified Gastroenterologist with strong recent General GI and ERCP experience who is comfortable providing comprehensive 24-hour call, inpatient, clinic, and procedural coverage. Physicians should be comfortable working across the hospital and outpatient endoscopy setting and have recent case volumes sufficient to support the requested privileges.
