Seeking an experienced Locum Gastroenterology Physician to provide inpatient GI coverage in an acute care hospital setting. The physician will provide inpatient consultations, rounding, and GI procedures for adult patients, with ERCP experience required.
The position involves approximately 10 patients per day and includes scheduled daytime coverage along with required night call. The physician will work primarily independently as the inpatient GI provider while having access to specialty consultants and outpatient GI colleagues for clinical support.
Job Responsibilities
• Conduct new Gastroenterology consultations
• Perform inpatient rounding
• Evaluate and manage acute GI conditions
• Perform ERCP procedures
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Respond to inpatient GI consultations and procedural needs
• Coordinate care with specialty consultants as needed
• Communicate with outpatient GI colleagues regarding patient care and workflow
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Use EPIC for electronic medical record documentation
• Provide required night call coverage
• Respond to urgent GI needs during call
• Collaborate with hospital physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals
Qualifications
• Active Oregon Physician License required
• Willingness to obtain Oregon License may be considered depending on start date
• Minimum 2 years of experience
• ERCP experience required
• ACLS certification required
• EPIC experience required
• Must demonstrate Gastroenterology clinical activity representative of requested privileges within the previous 24 months
• Applicants completing training within the previous year may provide training logs
• Recent inpatient Gastroenterology experience required
• Comfortable providing inpatient consultations, rounding, and procedures
• Must meet hospital credentialing and privileging requirements
Working Hours
• Shift Length: 10 hours
• Start: As soon as credentialed
• Scheduled daytime coverage with required call
• Night Call: Required
• Call schedule to be determined
• Inpatient coverage only
• Current coverage approval through April 1, 2027
