Job description
Aya Locums is working with a health system in Northeast Tennessee seeking board-certified Gastroenterologists for several inpatient coverage options. Physicians may choose between a long-term recurring assignment, selected weeklong blocks, or shorter spot-coverage dates extending into 2027.
Depending on the assignment selected, coverage may be based in Kingsport, Bristol, or shared across both locations.
Long-Term Recurring Coverage
Coverage begins September 28, 2026, with an anticipated assignment length of up to two years.
The preferred schedule is Monday at 7:00 a.m. through the following Monday at 7:00 a.m. Coverage includes approximately eight to ten onsite hours each weekday, overnight beeper call, and 24-hour weekend call.
The client is seeking physicians who can provide recurring weekly coverage, but schedule flexibility may be considered.

Clinical Details
The physician will provide inpatient Gastroenterology coverage, including consults, rounding, general GI procedures, and ERCP.
Typical weekday coverage includes approximately eight to ten onsite hours, followed by beeper call overnight. Weekend blocks include 24-hour call. Most after-hours responsibilities consist of phone consultations, and onsite callbacks are described as uncommon.
Additional details include:
- Approximately five to eight procedures per day
- APP support
- OR and in-house endoscopy nursing support
- Blocked endoscopy time
- Olympus equipment
- Epic documentation
- Primarily adult and geriatric patients, with occasional younger patients
- EUS is not required
Requirements
- Board certification in Gastroenterology
- Strong general GI and ERCP experience
- Tennessee license or IMLC eligibility required before dates can be confirmed
- Tennessee DEA
- ACLS and BLS
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced inpatient environment
- Clean or limited malpractice history
