WPA Medicine Staffing is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Gastroenterologist for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. This assignment offers a combination of inpatient rounding, endoscopy procedures, and call coverage within a well-supported practice utilizing Epic EMR.

Assignment Details

• Specialty: Gastroenterology
• Location: Williamsport, PA
• Setting: Inpatient & Outpatient Endoscopy
• Start Date: Ongoing Coverage Needs
• Estimated Coverage: Approximately 14 shifts per month
• Minimum Availability Required: One week per month (7 consecutive days)
• EMR: Epic

Schedule & Call

• 24-hour call coverage with inpatient rounding
• Typical schedule: Friday 5:00 PM – Friday 5:00 PM
• 1:4 Call Rotation or approximately 3 weeks per month
• 30-minute response time required for call

Providers must specify available dates when submitted for consideration.

• June 15, 7:00 AM – June 17, 5:00 PM
• July 26, 5:00 PM – August 3, 5:00 PM
• August 9, 5:00 PM – August 17, 5:00 PM
• August 30, 5:00 PM – September 3, 5:00 PM
• September 21, 8:00 AM – September 21, 5:00 PM
• October 16, 5:00 PM – October 19, 5:00 PM
• November 23, 5:00 PM – December 4, 5:00 PM
• December 14, 5:00 PM – December 18, 5:00 PM
• December 23, 5:00 PM – January 1, 5:00 PM

Typical Daily Schedule

Weekdays

• Meet with the on-call PA at 8:00 AM to review patients
• Inpatient rounding
• Perform approximately 4–6 scheduled outpatient endoscopy procedures
• Remain available for call coverage throughout the day and evening

Weekends

• Call coverage
• Hospital rounding based on patient volume and census

Procedures & Case Mix

• Screening Colonoscopies
• Diagnostic Colonoscopies
• EGD Procedures
• Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) – if credentialed
• ERCP – if credentialed

Support Structure

• Physician works independently while on service
• APP support available Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• PAs serve as first call
• No APP support on weekends
• Provider covers nights and weekends independently

Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
• Active Pennsylvania Medical License Required
• Active Pennsylvania DEA Required
• ACLS Certification Required
• BLS Certification Required
• Minimum One Year Experience Required
• Must provide NPDB report dated within the last two years
• Pennsylvania licensed candidates only
• No IMLC candidates
• No licensure candidates will be considered

Call & Patient Volume

• Average of 8–10 admissions while on call
• Hospital consults and GI-related admissions
• 30-minute call response requirement
