Job description Gastroenterology opening in Ohio Division Chief Dayton, Oh Full time Division Chief – Gastroenterology Leadership Opportunity A large academic-affiliated healthcare organization in Southwest Ohio is seeking an accomplished physician leader to serve as Division Chief of Gastroenterology within its Internal Medicine and Subspecialties Institute. This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the future of gastroenterology services through clinical excellence, physician engagement, academic advancement, and strategic growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for advancing patient care, education, and research within a multidisciplinary academic environment. Position Highlights • Provide strategic and visionary leadership for the Division of Gastroenterology and broader Internal Medicine and Subspecialties Institute • Advance clinical, academic, and operational initiatives aligned with institutional goals and mission • Lead physician and advanced practice provider workforce development, including recruitment, retention, mentorship, and oversight of section leaders • Collaborate closely with academic leadership to support educational programming, scholarly activity, and structured teaching rotations for medical students, residents, fellows, and other learners • Serve as the accountable leader for academic engagement and priorities within the division • Foster a culture of teaching, collaboration, accountability, and provider engagement across the division • Support quality improvement initiatives and uphold excellence in patient experience and evidence-based care • Oversee clinical call structures and ensure consistent system-wide coverage and responsiveness • Partner with operational leadership on budgeting, financial stewardship, strategic planning, and practice optimization initiatives • Build and strengthen relationships with referring physicians and community stakeholders to support continuity of care • Monitor provider productivity and operational performance through data-driven evaluation and leadership strategies • Champion clinical integration across the healthcare continuum and multidisciplinary collaboration throughout the system Qualifications • MD or DO required • Board Certification in Gastroenterology or related specialty required • Active medical license required • Minimum of 3–5 years of leadership experience preferred • Active faculty appointment or eligibility for faculty appointment required Preferred Candidate Profile • Experience leading clinicians, educators, and researchers within an academic or integrated healthcare setting • Strong organizational, operational, and financial management capabilities • Demonstrated success in physician mentorship, recruitment, and team development • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills • Commitment to resident education, faculty development, and learner engagement • Proven ability to navigate complex healthcare environments and matrixed leadership structures • Effective change management and strategic planning experience Academic & Health System Environment This opportunity combines academic medicine with the resources of a large integrated healthcare system serving Southwest Ohio.
