Locum Tenens Gastroenterology Physician Opportunity
Assignment Type: Locum Tenens
Start Date: Ongoing (specific coverage blocks available)
Schedule:
- Monday–Friday: 9-hour day shifts (8 billable hours)
- Night call: 15-hour overnight call
- Weekend call: 24-hour coverage
- Combination of clinical + call coverage
Practice Setting
- Mix of inpatient and outpatient care
- Established and well-supported Endoscopy Unit
- Approximately 12 patients per day (procedures-focused)
- No admissions required (hospitalists handle admissions)
- Provider responsible for documentation and follow-up communication
Clinical Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of GI procedures including:
- Upper and lower endoscopy
- Colonoscopy (with biopsy and polyp removal)
- ERCP (required)
- PEG placement
- Esophageal dilation/manometry
- Sigmoidoscopy and small bowel biopsy
- Inpatient rounding and outpatient procedural care
- Participate in call coverage (beeper call, 20-minute response time)
- Collaborate with nursing staff on patient follow-up and care plans
Requirements
- Board Certified in Gastroenterology
- Active state license required at time of submission
- ACLS, ATLS, and BLS certifications required
- ERCP experience required
- Ability to provide full block coverage (no partial availability)
Facility & Support
- Level II Trauma facility
- Dedicated Endoscopy suites (4 procedure rooms)
- EMR: Cerner, Athena
- Strong, experienced clinical and support staff
