Job description
We are seeking a Physician or Gastroenterologist with a strong background in digestive health and clinical research to serve as a Principal Investigator for gastroenterology-focused clinical trials at our Cincinnati site. This position offers flexible scheduling — full-time or part-time — and an opportunity to advance new therapies within gastrointestinal medicine and liver health.
Overview
The Principal Investigator (PI) is responsible for the leadership and medical oversight of clinical studies centered on gastroenterology. The PI ensures all trials are conducted safely, ethically, and in full compliance with federal regulations, institutional policies, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines. The role includes direct engagement with study participants, supervision of study teams, and collaboration with sponsors and regulators
Job Responsibilities
• Personally conduct or supervise medical procedures, ensuring proper delegation and training of research staff.
• Maintain compliance with FDA, GCP, and IRB requirements, along with institutional SOPs.
• Review and interpret laboratory results, imaging, and diagnostic findings related to gastrointestinal assessments.
• Monitor subject enrollment and coordinate recruitment efforts with the clinical team.
• Collaborate with sponsors and monitors to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Mentor Sub-Investigators and study coordinators.
• Provide occasional weekend or after-hours oversight as needed per protocol.
Qualifications
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
• Minimum 2+ years of recent, patient-facing clinical experience
• Comfortable working onsite in a collaborative clinical research environment
