Job description Physician – Gastroenterologist

Location: Hudson Valley, NY

Department: Gastroenterology

Classification: Exempt, Full-Time

Reports to: CEO

Position Overview:

The Gastroenterologist is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and liver. This role focuses primarily on outpatient care, performing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with gastrointestinal, hepatic, pancreatic, and biliary disorders
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including:
  • Upper endoscopy (EGD)
  • Colonoscopy
  • Polypectomy
  • Biopsy and hemostasis procedures
  • Manage chronic GI conditions such as IBS, IBD, GERD, liver disease, and colorectal cancer screening
  • Interpret diagnostic tests, including lab results, imaging, and pathology reports
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on current clinical guidelines
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing medical education
Qualifications:

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency
  • Completion of an accredited Gastroenterology fellowship
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
  • Active and unrestricted New York State medical license (or eligibility)
  • Current DEA registration
  • Strong commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care
  • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems
